On Reviews
| A heads up on the reviews you will find on this site: 1. Not every book is going to be my favorite. If I dislike a book, I will explain why. 2. When I read a review, I want a general idea of what to expect from the book and the reviewers opinion on the work. I do not want to read a novella. My reviews will be succinct. 3. I will never, for any reason, give spoilers. Look elsewhere for such. 4. Questions are always welcome. Review requests are always welcome. Any input at all will always be welcome. 5. I will give a numeric score to each book between one and ten. Such systems are always questionable, but I'd rather have a solid number than have people guess at my opinion. |

post a commentNice blog - I just found it when I recognised your name at SFF from a comment you made at my blog. I think I'll have throw a link to it if you don't mind.
OK, here goes...
This is a review request.
My novels have been published in my native country of Sweden, and my short fiction has appeared in various professional, semi-professional and unprofessional publications across the world....
...but I've got a website too, where some of my writings are available in English: early novels, and several short stories.
Would you like to review one of them?

If you're interested, why not start with the podcast of my short story "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Valhalla"...
"Lord, I have a problem!"
"What's the problem, Eve?"
"Lord, I know you've created me and have provided this beautiful garden and all of these wonderful animals and that hilarious comedy snake, but I'm just not happy."
"Why is that, Eve?" came the reply from above.
"Lord, I am lonely. And I'm sick to death of apples." "Well, Eve, in that case, I have a solution. I shall create a man for you."
"What's a 'man,' Lord?"
"This man will be a flawed creature, with aggressive tendencies, an enormous ego and an inability to empathize or listen to you properly, he'll basically give you a hard time. He'll be bigger, faster, and more muscular than you. He'll be really good at fighting and kicking a ball about and hunting fleet-footed ruminants, But, he'll be pretty good in the sack."
"I can put up with that," says Eve, with an ironically raised eyebrow.
"Yeah well, he's better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick. But, there is one condition."
"What's that, Lord?"
"You'll have to let him believe that I made him first."
:D :D :D

Hello:
If you are interested in what is largely considered a great debut fantasy novel, then check out Wayfarer's Dawn by Nate Llerandi.
This novel promotes equality and self-esteem by featuring heroic gay characters………..Please note this book is not appropriate for younger minors as it includes some adult content.
Universal appeal for progressive, adventurous readers…..Be among the first to fall in love with, then champion this controversial new novel.
Soon to be reviewed by Out In America for its huge network of highly popular websites.
I am a downtown Kansas City resident, and I have just published (Oct. 2007) my first novel…It is set mostly in metropolitan KC, and the cover was painted specifically for the book by a local tattoo artist…My hope is that you will agree that it belongs in your library or store, or should by featured in an article in your paper or website…Contact me for further information or with any questions.
My publisher will provide a free media copy to any legitimate news outlet if you contact Kathleen at accounts@wheatmark.com.
Thanks so much,
Michael Travis Jasper

(There are a total of 4 pages.)
To Be Chosen is a controversial novel based on the oft quoted, but rarely upheld concept that all human beings are equal and individuality has value. It has special appeal for a very large niche audience, but will also please a much more general mass readership.
The 424 page story contains and contrasts material as varied as: Christianity/paganism, gay/straight/bisexual characters, magic/mythology/spirituality, action/romance/suspense, and humor/tragedy.
While profound thoughts are provoked, the action on every page provides a glimpse at the hardest and sweetest human truths. Engaging distraction from one’s real life. A sexy parable about destiny, choices, and the true nature of God’s love.
There are three main characters: a father whose materialism is erased by grief, a lovely witch parted from her minister husband, and a gay college boy who finds love and learns sacrifice. They are united by newfound supernatural powers and an ever-morphing spiritual guide to battle demons from another world and Earth’s past. A motley group of friends and even the ghosts of loved ones join these outcasts, chosen to be God’s Hammer, as they fight in city streets and farmyards to save mankind and each other.
While the book is completely “pro-Christian,” some ultra-religious people will not like the fact that gay people are treated as equal in the eyes of God. Also, the spiritual subject matter mixed with some graphic content (including: language, violence, gay and straight sex scenes) could scandalize some less liberal readers. The book is intended for a general adult (teenaged & above) audience.
Fans of every genre will be entertained. The alternative/fantasy view of our real and current world will appeal to readers of S.M. Stirling and Lord of the Rings. The Sci-fi aspects will please fans of Dune, Battlestar Galactica, and BBC America’s popular Torchwood. The mythological references will appeal to fans of The Davinci Code and TV’s Stargate. There is magic for lovers of Harry Potter, Laurell K. Hamilton, TV’s Heroes and Charmed—definitely Charmed. There are a few horrific moments for the Stephen King fan as well. Even Nora Roberts’ readers will be sucked in by the romance as will the lovers of Anne Rice. Catchy pop-culture infused dialogue will please the viewers of shows like Grey’s Anatomy and followers of the trendiest blogs. There is much here for the extensive gay reading audience especially. Fans of William J. Mann and Michael Thomas Ford will delight in this. Viewers of Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Queer As Folk, and even Will & Grace will be hooked. Please also note that musical devotees dedicated to the band Evanescence will be drawn to a haunting story that evokes the same atmosphere as Amy Lee’s ethereal voice and poignant, intense lyrics.
The few people that have had the chance to read this book before it was published often reported that though they thought the book was outside their usual preferred genre, they couldn’t put it down and enjoyed it very much.
A recent poll suggested that as many as 80% of people judge a book by its cover. That is a huge plus for this book. The author commissioned a local tattoo artist (much of this story is set in metropolitan Kansas City) to do a painting specifically for this novel. The resulting cover is spectacular. Almost everyone will be compelled to pick it up to see what it is about. Mr. Jasper admits with some embarrassment that he often chooses or rejects books based on the beauty of their covers.
While To Be Chosen has elements for drawing comparison to all of these wildly popular books, authors, and TV shows; the unusual intermix of content tells the story in a very original way.
One educated, early reader told Mr. Jasper when she read the novel, she felt as if she were watching a movie. This is the ideal type of reading experience to appeal to the modern culture’s fast-paced, movie-raised generations that are accustomed to the speed and style of endless cablevision and the internet.
The surprising bonus is that the thrilling action on every page is a reminder that even a freak like you is loved without limit. Ask yourself what you would do if you were chosen to better humanity…because you were.

Hello!
My name is Cindy Lynn Speer, and I am the author of a new full length fantasy-romance novel, Blue Moon, coming this February from Zumaya Otherworlds. It is available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Moon-Cindy-Lynn-Speer/dp/1934135720/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202241004&sr=8-3.
Once, our world was a mixture of technology and magic, but as these two forces began to destroy each other, it was decided to split the world into two, creating one for the creatures who needed magic, and one for technology. When the worlds were split, some creatures stayed behind voluntarily, but two beings whose acts were so vile that even the memory of their names were taken from the minds of all living creatures were left, and now they have awakened, and are determined to reunite the worlds no matter what the cost.
To complete this task, they need to take the Merlin Stone from Libby Halstead. Fortunately, she has more allies than she realizes…Alex, a man who is in search of his memory, Sierra, who wants to leave this world for the world of magic, and Zororvin, a dragon who has entered our world in the hope of finding his son.
I would be honored if Blue Moon was reviewed on your site. If you would like to read an excerpt, please visit my website: http://www.apenandfire.com/?page_id=4. This link will take you right to the excerpt and book trailer. It is available as a .pdf or, in a few weeks, as a hard copy. Please let me know what you would prefer.
I am a former free lance editor, book reviewer, and interviewer. I also have two short stories (and several more forthcoming) from Drollerie Press. This means that not only do I understand the reviewing and interview process, (so no grousing from me!) but I am someone who has a lot of different experiences that could make me a valuable guest in a chat, for an interview or even for a guest blog post. I would be grateful for any opportunities offered.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
